Criminal Justice Reform
Balanced reform to include public safety and victims' rights is critical in pursuing solutions to an addiction epidemic that is fueling a public safety crisis. Compassion and accountability are integral to an effective criminal justice system.
Addiction destroys the individual, their families, and is damaging our very own community. An effort to minimize or eliminate drug penalties enables further addiction. While promoted as compassionate, keeping individuals in a prison of addiction without walls is cruel. Both compassion and accountability are integral to effective rehabilitation.
Where drugs go, violence will follow. Colorado is suffering from a dramatic increase in homicides and violent crime. Victims and their families deserve strong and ethical prosecutions. To rebuild public safety, those who commit violence upon our community must be brought to justice.
